In ancient Egypt, the origin of the god Ra is associated with the concept of creation emerging from a darkness akin to the protective environment inside a camera. Ra is considered the sun god and the supreme deity who travels across the sky during the day, bringing light, warmth, and magic (heka) to the world. Atum existed in a state of primordial darkness and emptiness known as Nun. Atum is therefore equated with Ra as the deliverer of light and magic to this world’s artificers of light.
